Rahul Dravid, a former Indian cricketer and captain was born today on 11th January in 1973. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen in the history of cricket.

He started playing cricket at the age of 12 and later went on to be named as one of the best five cricketers of the year by Wisden Cricketers' Almanack in 2000. He also received the Player of the Year and the Test Player of the Year awards at the inaugural ICC awards ceremony in 2004. He is popularly known as The Wall, Jammy and Mr. Dependable amongst his fans.

Netherlands and the Republic of Togolaise have issued commemorative stamps to honour this ‘Wall’ of the Indian Cricket team.
